The client and the context

ECM was founded by a group of young, ambitious programmers who decided to strike out on their own and make their way in the business world.

When it was founded in 2001, the company focused exclusively on distributing Passepartout business management software and providing support and consulting services.

Over the years, the company has expanded beyond software development to include other skills and capabilities. In fact, the Naples-based company now operates a help desk and a customer care department, but most importantly, it has establisheda development division that creates web app solutions integrated with the Passepartout software. This has enabled it to become an increasingly significant player in its market segment and to engage with small and medium-sized businesses throughout the country.

The expertise ECM has acquired over the years enables it to create a product from scratch.

In fact, 2016 saw the launch of what would become one of the company’s flagship services: Scoognizzo CRM.

The ECM solution has always stood out for its integration of “two worlds”—that is, the connection between business management software and web applications and Scoognizzo CRM. This highly advanced integration has made it possible to offer customers an innovative, secure, and high-performance solution.

The challenge

ECM’s growth has also led the company to face management challenges. This is where VMEngine comes in, helping ECMoptimize its cloud infrastructure.

VMEngine supported ECM by helping it migrate from an unregulated and disorganized cloud setup toa more secure, innovative, and faster infrastructure. The infrastructure and management challenges inevitably spilled over to customers, making it difficult to handle the numerous requests or respond quickly to user inquiries.

The VMEngine Solution

The goal was to make the infrastructure faster, more secure, and more efficient. For this reason, VMEngine’s cloud architects developed a comprehensive solution capable of resolving bug-fixing issues, enhancing the architecture’s security by protecting it from potential external attacks, and, above all, ensuring greater scalability. Furthermore, the solution was designed to simplify software management for developers through the integration of specific AWS services. The ECM infrastructure was transformed into a SaaS solution to respond to user requests as quickly as possible and take full advantage of a distributed and scalable cloud architecture. To meet the customer’s needs, the following AWS services were used: CloudFormation, Application Load Balancer (ALB), AWS Shield, Amazon WAF, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeCommit, AWS CodeBuild, CloudFront, S3, Route 53, ECR, VPC, ElastiCache Redis, ECS Fargate, SNS, Application Load Balancer, NAT Gateway, Internet Gateway, RDS, CloudWatch, SES.

Benefits

The transformation of the platform intoa modern, secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud architecture represented a pivotal step for ECM. Thanks to VMEngine’s intervention, the company was able to streamline the management of customer requests and integrations, responding more quickly, flexibly, and efficiently. This evolution has made it possible to adopt new services and features without compromising the stability of the existing environment. Furthermore, ECM has benefited from dynamic infrastructure scalability, which now allows the company to easily adapt to usage spikes, optimize resources, and ensure business continuity even when facing a high volume of requests. In summary, the new architecture has transformed the platform into a strategic asset capable of supporting business growth and improving the end-user experience.
